Paragraph 80 Eco-House, Knoddishall, Suffolk

A fantastic achievement for Beech Architects as we have obtained planning permission for a new Paragraph 80 eco-house in Knodishall Suffolk being a new house development in the countryside.

We believe we are the first Suffolk based practice to achieve Paragraph 80 consent (previously PPG 7 ‘new house in the countryside’ rules) and are looking forward to moving the project forward to construction. To achieve the consent the criteria requires a highly innovative and sustainable design to be accepted by the exception planning rules. The planning committee unanimously voted the design for approval. The design uses rubble foundations, straw bale walls, recycled pallet timber cladding, rammed earth wall construction and a crinkle crankle brick wall feature, which pays homage to the Suffolk vernacular and reflects local distinctiveness all with a contemporary approach.
